Curtain Design Ideas to Liven Up Rooms in the House

A curtain plays an important role in supporting the appearance of home interior design. Curtains can create the elegant and luxurious impression of the house interior design for windows and doors that make the living room, family room and bedroom more beautiful and exotic. Traditionally, made of silk or linen, curtains were usually plain and coloured constrict the imagination and creativity in the interior design of place because people only choose traditional and antique decor and furnishings. Only the rich people could afford to buy curtain. Contemporary curtain designs give the look of a room in a house or office a completely new dimension, in terms of style and give you the freedom to explore and discover all possibilities of decorating your place in a modern stylish way. However, the purpose has not changed over the ages; to keep prying eyes from looking into a home and to keep the interior of the house warm in winters as well as blocked out exterior light. Therefore, in winter people used to made the curtains from wool. Years went by and curtain became common as more people could afford to buy it. Since then, hanging curtains were introduced. The designs became more colourful and broke the monotony of plain walls. Recently, curtain are designed by keeping minimalist approach in terms of print, fabric, and style of stitching in order to avoid the problem of maintenance in traditional curtains.
Besides, they are designed to fit the general trends of furnishing and decor. In traditional curtain, some families used to have two sets of blinds, one for summer and the other for winters. The net blinds would be drawn during the day to let the sunlight in, and the heavier shades mounted on separate rail would be used to cover the windows at night. On the other hand, seasonal prints and colour are the basic inspiration of contemporary curtain designs in which light and airy fabric like cotton, net and light silk is preferred in spring or summer season. Abstract and geometrical prints are also the contemporary design, while lace and embroidered edging was added to make traditional curtains look unique.
